8月の終わりに少し遠くで開催された花火大会の花火が見えるように近くの水辺に向かいました。しかし結局多くの人がいたためにあまりよく花火は見えず帰りました。来た道を帰っていると、水上にかかる橋のシルエットとその奥の電子広告のネオンがとても強いコントラストを生み出していました。遠くに眺めた花火よりも私はこの眩しいくらいのネオンの色彩が強く印象に残りました。花火が生み出す光はみんなのもののように感じましたが、この人口的な眩しい光の空間はなんとなく自分だけのもののように感じました。

At the end of August, I headed to a nearby waterfront to see the fireworks from a distant fireworks festival. However, due to the large crowd, I couldn’t see the fireworks well and decided to go back. On the way back, the outline of the bridge over the water and the neon of the electronic advertisements in the distance created a very strong contrast. I was more impressed by the dazzling neon colors than by the distant fireworks. The light from the fireworks felt like it belonged to everyone, but the space illuminated by this artificial, dazzling light somehow felt like it was just for me.
