There’s something kind of dozy about the buildings in this area that always feels very Shinjuku to me. You can barely see the sky, and the buildings are all packed together, facing different directions, creating these weird gaps and shapes between them. The neon signs are always bright, but right next to that glow there’s this constant Shinjuku-style dimness.

It’s not a particularly clean place, and it’s definitely not calm. Sometimes I honestly wonder why so many young people are drawn here and keep passing through it. But before I know it, the image of Shinjuku is already stuck in my head, popping up every now and then. I guess Shinjuku just has its own kind of pull.
