When I think of the roads of Tokyo, of course I picture asphalt streets, but one of the things that comes to mind is the bridges that cross the rivers. Tokyo is filled with bridges spanning wide rivers and canals, and the views from each of them feel very characteristic of the city to me. Below lies a long, winding path patterned with tiles, while on either side rise towering structures of modern architecture, silently cutting a piece of the sky. And just beyond them, a faint glimpse of clouds appears. I am deeply moved by this sensation—somewhere between inorganic and organic, neither fully blending nor fully apart.
